A patio or walk is only as good as what sits under it. Most of the work on a hardscape job is the part you never see once it is done.
- Sod and topsoil dug out down to firm ground before anything goes in
- Base material compacted in layers, not dumped and raked flat
- Edges restrained so the surface does not drift or open at the seams
- Surface sloped so water runs off instead of toward the house
Retaining walls that hold a slope
A retaining wall is there to hold soil and water back, and water is what pushes a wall over. How the wall handles water is the job.
- Wall set on a compacted base so the first course starts level
- Drainage stone behind the wall and a way for water to leave
- Backfill added in stages and compacted as it goes
- Top finished and the ground around it graded and cleaned up

Do you pour concrete?
No. Poured concrete work is outside what we do. We build with pavers and stone.
Can you tie a new patio into my existing beds?
Yes. Beds, edging and finish mulch or rock can be part of the same job so the new surface is not sitting next to a worn out yard.
